Five-point heat-seal Tester (also known as gradient heat seal tester) can be used to determine the heat sealing temperature range , suitable packaging speed, and heat sealing pressure of the plastic film substrate, the flexible packaging composite film, coated paper and other heat sealing composite membrane. It can also work with tensile tester to do heat seal strength test.

The Five-point heat-seal Tester, also known as the gradient heat seal tester, is a versatile tool used to determine various parameters related to heat sealing. It can be used to determine the heat sealing temperature range, suitable packaging speed, and heat sealing pressure of different materials such as plastic film substrates, flexible packaging composite films, coated paper, and other heat sealing composite membranes. Additionally, it can be used in conjunction with a tensile tester to perform heat seal strength tests.

 

The tester is divided into four main parts: the air drive system, heat sealing device, temperature control system, and time conditioning system.

 

1). The air drive system consists of pressure gauges, a guide rod, cylinder, pneumatic valve, and a pressure regulator handle. The pressure adjustment handle is used to increase or decrease the sealing pressure by turning it right or left respectively. Once the desired pressure is set, the handle is pushed towards the host side to lock the setting values.

 

2). The heat seal device includes upper and lower heat sealing rods. The upper heat sealing rods are divided into five segments, each segment controlling temperature independently. They are connected to the cylinder and have a heat shield on top to prevent heat transfer to the cylinder. The top of the lower heat sealing rod has a silicone sheet to mitigate the impact of pressure during heat sealing. The heat sealing rods are made of aluminum, with a heater in the central part and a temperature measurement device at the back.

 

3). The temperature control system consists of separate temperature controllers for the upper and lower heat sealing rod segments. There are five sections for each rod, and the temperature can be freely set by adjusting the dial buttons.

 

4). The time conditioning system allows for the adjustment of the sealing time. By using the dial button, the sealing time can be set anywhere between 0.1 seconds to 99 hours. The tester offers both manual and automatic modes. In manual mode, the heat-sealing stick is controlled to open and close using a foot switch. In automatic mode, a timer controls the sealing time, which can be adjusted using the time adjustment button on the panel. The unit of measurement for the sealing time is typically 0.1 seconds.
